Dr John Fagan
is founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Global ID Group, which includes Genetic ID, Cert ID and FoodChain Global Advisors. Through these companies he has pioneered the development of innovative tools to verify food purity, quality and sustainability. These tools include DNA tests for genetically engineered foods, the first certification program for non-GM foods, the first program dedicated to certifying corporate social and environmental responsibility in the food and agricultural industries (ProTerra Certification).
His expertise is sought after by industry and government leaders, scientists, and the public, to whom he has presented hundreds of lectures around the world in the last decade. Earlier, Professor Fagan conducted biomedical research at the US National Institutes of Health and in academia, examining molecular mechanisms in carcinogenesis.
Dr Fagan holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology from Cornell University.
